Butterfly Ear Piercings: Butterflies for Helix, Tragus and Conch
Butterfly Ear Piercings look like they're just landing on your ear.
A Butterfly Ear Piercings adds a playful accent to your ear – you will find over 50 models in our shop. The most popular choices are labret studs with a zirconia butterfly and internal threading, barbells with a fixed or dangling butterfly, and bendable rings in a gold look. In addition, we offer titanium labrets with wings made of marquise stones, push-in models, industrial barbells, and eyebrow piercings. This is how you beautifully decorate your helix, tragus, or conch with a butterfly.
Butterfly Ear Piercings at PiercingXXL: our selection
Discover our collection of over 40 butterfly ear piercings, available in silver, gold, or rose gold, with some models crafted from titanium. You can choose designs decorated with zirconia stones in crystal, pink, or aqua, including styles with a movable dangle. We offer flat back labrets featuring either an internal thread or a threadless push-in closure.
Shapes, Materials, and Combinations
For cartilage piercings, labret studs are the first choice because the butterfly sits at the front while the flat disc rests comfortably at the back. For Butterfly Helix Piercings, a medium-sized butterfly looks great on the upper ear rim, whereas a smaller model is better suited for the tragus. In a Conch Piercing, a larger butterfly has plenty of space in the bowl of the ear and stands out beautifully, even with a small dangle underneath. You can find more piercing placements in our Ear Piercing overview.
ASTM F136 titanium and 316L surgical steel are highly biocompatible, while brass models are fashion jewelry meant for fully healed piercings. All gold models, including the butterflies, feature a high-quality gold-colored coating.
Our Practical Advice
Angle the wings slightly upwards so the butterfly looks like it is just landing. For fresh piercings, always choose titanium; brass models should only be worn after the healing process is complete.
Frequently Asked Questions About Butterfly Ear Piercingsss
Which butterfly fits a tragus piercing?
For the tragus, you should choose a short labret with a small, flat butterfly. It sits close to the ear canal and won't bother you while sleeping or wearing headphones.
Internal threading or push-in – which is better?
Neither system pulls a rough thread through the piercing channel. Push-in jewelry is faster to change, while internal threading sits particularly securely due to the screw mechanism. You can find both variants among our titanium butterflies.
Are there butterflies with dangles?
Yes, there are barbells and titanium labrets that feature a small zirconia dangle swinging beneath the butterfly. They are perfect for earlobes and helix piercings.
How your ear piercing heals
Clean twice a day with sterile saline solution and only touch with clean hands.
Do not change the initial jewelry and do not sleep on the pierced side.
An earlobe is usually healed after six to twelve weeks. Cartilage like a helix or tragus takes six to twelve months.
Once everything is calm, you can insert new jewelry – in the same gauge as before.
These times are guidelines; every healing process is different. In case of severe pain, swelling, or pus, please consult your piercing studio or a doctor.
