Labret Piercing

The labret stud is a type of piercing jewelry primarily used for the lip area. The stud consists of two parts: a top attachment and a hollow bar with a flat, round backplate. Labret jewelry should not be confused with the labret piercing itself. The term labret piercing generally refers to various types of lip piercings. In contrast, the term labret stud refers to the jewelry piece, which can also be used for other types of piercings outside the mouth area.
Buy Labret Piercings
In our online shop, you will find a huge selection of labret jewelry in a wide variety of designs, colors, and materials. From beautiful flower tops adorned with opal and cubic zirconia stones to simple labrets with small balls, we have the perfect labret for every occasion and taste. Our labrets in bright colors and dazzling stones ensure exciting looks. For many of these labrets, you can choose your individual bar length and thickness, ensuring the labret fits perfectly into any desired piercing hole.
Labret studs with Bioflex bars and 14k gold tops offer you the opportunity to radiate luxury without having to dig deep into your pockets. 14k gold labret bars are also a great way to look elegant on a budget, as the bars can be worn with any number of tops featuring the same thread type. Simple 14k gold tops with cubic zirconia stones or cute gold tops in a crescent moon design give you an incomparably glamorous look.
With our clear labret retainer, you can also maintain your piercing hole when a flashy piercing just doesn't fit your current situation. This retainer helps you hide the piercing without letting the piercing channel close up.
Labret Piercing Materials

Depending on the piercing location, labrets can be made of different materials. Even the two parts of the labret stud can be crafted from different materials. For example, labrets used for the lip should feature Bioflex or PTFE bars. The tops can be made of many different materials such as titanium, 14k gold, or surgical steel. The soft material of the bars protects your teeth and gums.
Labrets used for the ears, on the other hand, can be made entirely of firmer metals like titanium or surgical steel. In the case of a nickel allergy, a titanium piercing or Bioflex piercing is particularly suitable, as both contain no nickel. 14k gold is one of the highest quality materials for piercings. A gold labret piercing accordingly provides a luxurious and elegant look.
What Piercings is the Labret Used For?
Labret studs are predominantly used for all types of lip piercings. The length of a lip stud should be around 6 - 8 mm and the bar thickness about 1,2 mm. The labret is the preferred jewelry especially for lip piercings in the mouth area. This includes upper lip piercings like the Medusa piercing, Madonna, and Monroe piercing, as well as all lower lip piercings, of course. In contrast, piercings located directly on the lip or the vermilion border (e.g., the Eskimo piercing) rarely use labret studs. Delicate labret studs can highlight upper lip piercings like the Medusa and give them an elegant look. In general, dainty labret tops are ideal for piercings around the lip area to skillfully draw attention to the lips.
Labrets can also be used for various other body parts. For ear piercings such as the helix piercing or the tragus piercing, labrets are often used with a bar length of about 8 mm. Due to the flat backplate on one side, the stud adapts perfectly to the back of the ear, offering high wearing comfort. For the tragus, smaller balls are particularly suitable as labret tops. A helix, on the other hand, can be perfectly showcased with a larger, fanned-out labret top.
Other piercing locations like the nose can also use the labret stud as jewelry. However, since there are many special nose stud shapes, using a labret for a nose piercing is rather rare. In certain cases, though, a labret is suitable. It can be advantageous that this lip stud consists of two separable parts. The tops can be exchanged more easily and without much effort. Additionally, a Bioflex labret bar can be individually shortened, and the flattened plate at the end of the labret is preferred by some nose piercing wearers. When using a labret as a nose piercing, it is important to pay attention to the size. The bar thickness should not exceed 1 mm and the length should be about 6 mm here.
